How This Trip Came to Be ~ By Tom ~

I see some of you came back today to follow this series of articles and for this we are glad.  Our journey began in July 2016 when a friend, Sean, shared with me his excitement about the recent trip he had made out west to visit his sister.  The grin on his face was incredible.  When I got home I shared his experience with my fiancé, Audrey and we both remarked how fun it would be to do something like that.  The next morning the thoughts were still dancing around in both our minds.  Given this fact we began dreaming how much fun it would be and before you know it said “let’s do it”.  Our conversations centered on the basic logistics of when (September 1, 2016), how (our 2002 Toyota Camry), where (the northern states there and middle states back), who (Audrey, Emma and me), what (the month of September), why (to see life beyond our zip code).  Other things that came up was how to share our experiences with others and learn from them and maybe help others make such a leap in faith.  Audrey came up with the idea of creating our own website hence www.usathroughoureyes.com was birthed.  Everything continued falling into place from that point forward including acquiring the necessary equipment, making sure the car was prepared, someone to care for our place while away, paying bills in advance, etc.  Before we knew it, “D-day” arrived.  It was a beautiful, sunny September 1st and Audrey, Emma and I got in the car, waved goodbye to some of our neighbors, flipped the trip odometer and down the road we went.

Okay I’m going sign off now because I have learned how important it is to not make these post get to wordy because face it, everyone is busy with life and the last thing one has is an hour to sit and read an article that lingers on and on.  We do hope however you come back tomorrow if you have time okay?

  1. Thank you Madelyn for this information about the site. Its a hiccup that we have been talking with Theme Foundry about. We’re smiling about the patience coming and going because we can relate, lol, lol. Hang in there…… please.

  2. Good to know, thanks. It seems to hang most often when moving from page to page (in a blogroll of several pages of posts in a month). It seems to be theme-related, in my experience.

Time and patience, some times I have them, others not so much. 🙂 But it’s fun to follow your journey. Thanks for sharing.

  3. Madelyn it is so special you are following the sequence of our travels and TinkerToy is liking Emma’s postings. Sometimes the site seems to hang up with the twirling wheel but if you press the browser refresh button it will move forward.

  4. I’ve been trying to follow from the very beginning – “liking” as I go – and doing my best to attempt to read in order.

My puppy TinkerToy has been overjoyed to read the posts from the furry one of your band, btw. – and I loved reading the story of how you got together and decided to blog your journeys together. Much fun. Thanks.
