Hello and welcome back! Today we would like to share a recent road trip to Fisheating Creek in Palmdale, Florida. What a name for a campground… Fisheating Creek. When were searching for a place to go and stumbled upon it our first thought was what’s eating the fish? The name brought my mind back to a childhood memory of a movie, “The Creature from the Black Lagoon”. We figured let’s give it a try and learned some valuable lessons.
The campsites were grassy, separated by shrubs and trees and comfortably spread out. We went to bed that night sleeping like babies only to wake finding the site next to us filled with a huge camper and many tents about a foot from the side of our van. We were okay with this until all their children woke and we realized there wasn’t going to be a lot of peace and quiet. We decided to talk with the camp managers to see if they had another site available which they did, and we moved. Well, shortly after moving we noticed caravans of campers coming in all around us. The we learned there was going to be a youth retreat of 200 youngsters in the field next to us. Have you ever heard of the ole saying “going from the frying pan into the fire”? Well we were now in the fire. So back to the camp mangers we went, and they were so gracious. They had a site, but it wouldn’t be available until the following night but assured us we would not be disappointed. They were so right.
The sight they moved us to was 50 ft of prime creek front property with no campers within 100 yards. One could truly say there was the peace of God that surpasses all understanding. You hear folks talk about 4K high definition images and surround sound… well this place had all that and more live around the clock. Then when you added in the sunrises, sunsets and the crackling campfires we didn’t want to leave. We must say however there was one evening while we were enjoying the campfire and noticed Emma our chocolate lab was a little nervous. When we scanned the water with our head lamps it was to our amazement, we realized we were not alone. There were many sets of huge alligator eyeballs cruising up and down the creek literally 15 feet away. It was difficult relaxing to the campfire wondering if one of those gators might want to join us. The lessons learned on this adventure is somethings are worth the wait.

How great is our LORD. He kept on positioning things until He got you to just the perfect spot! I love it! The pictures are wonderful as always. Sorry for he delay in the comment but as you know I am catching up 🙂 what a delightful catch up it is 🙂 Praise the LORD.

Oh, the gracefulness of those trees. Cypress? Loved the reflection in the water. My favorite photo was the one of relaxing time w Emma. 🙂 life is such an adventure through your eyes, Audrey and Tom!

Gorgeous pics and scenery! I can remember many summer vacations spent in FL as a child. My oldest brother lived there. The prospect of meeting a gator never sat well with me though! This place sounds interesting! Thanks for sharing!
