Journey Through North Carolina – Part 26

Hello and welcome to part 26 of our journey through North Carolina.

From our restful time at the “Farm Country Campground”  in Williamston, NC we were off on a day trip to explore the Outer Banks (OBX) and the towns along the way.

It was a beautiful drive with many incredible sites to behold including a visitor center in Tyrrell County that had several walking trails for us to meander down and enjoy views of the beautiful waterways.  We also spent time at Roanoke Island Festival Park in Manteo, NC where we enjoyed resting along the water watching folks kayaking.

Then we arrived at the Outer Banks peninsula which extends from off the mainland of Virginia and right on through past North Carolina.  We gotta be honest however in saying that even though it was beautiful, the commercialism overpowered and detracted from the wonders of being able to overlook the vast Atlantic Ocean.  Probably the best parts of our trip to the Outer Banks was spending time wiggling our toes in the Atlantic Ocean and on the way home watching the splendid lighting storm spewing its bolts down toward the ground.  Then it was back to relax at the Farm Country Campground to a great home cooked meal.

  2. Lovely video. I’ve always wanted to see the Outer Banks. My husband took his church youth group there a few times, and he really enjoyed it. Sad that commercialism is taking over everywhere. Sometimes ‘progress’ doesn’t seem so great.

  26. This is good to know. We have often wondered what the weather is like in your region. Isn’t it funny how your eyes open when you get to know people in other regions of the world. Its lets us realize how much in common we all have. Yes, there was a lot of commercialism there. Many of the folks living there have expressed dislike for the changes.

  29. It is so nice to receive affirmation about the outer banks. We can only imagine how you must feel watching an area you love being changed like it is. It must be so beautiful for you waking up each morning to the views from your home.

  31. A short but beautiful video Tom and Audrey, I can myself imagine how great it was to be by the Atlantic Ocean an feel the water, and see the lighting storm. After such a day it was nice to be back at the Farm Country Campground. Warm greetings, Ann.

  35. I was wondering how you would like the outer banks. You are so correct about the commercialism. All the development we have seen in the past 10 years has turned what use to be such a quaint, beautiful, quiet little piece of heaven, into, well not hahaha. They call it progress, and us locals are just behind the times. If you had(and maybe you will) gone to the Ocracoke ferry and crossed to Cedar Island, you would have almost been to my house :):)
