Journey Through North Carolina – Part 6

Hello and welcome to part 6 of our journey through North Carolina.

As we traveled the Blue Ridge Parkway  we  came upon Mabry Mill which was home to Ed and Lizzy Mabry over a century ago and is historical and picturesque.

Well this is it for today.  We hope you come back and see how the trip unfolds as we share more of the USA Through Our Eyes.  Until then be safe.

  1. Home for now, I was born and raised in California and will be moving back West to Oregon in a handful of years. It is beautiful, but it takes hours to get to it haha. I am loving your posts!

  2. Hi Kathrin. Thank you. It was such a sereen place and there had just been a gentle rain so that combined with the clouds made for that warmth. It is so nice that you shared your thoughts with us and be able to get to know you.

  3. Yes it is amazing. We had no idea of all that was there. It truly ran the gamut of one end to the other. It is nice knowing you have experienced it too. We are glad you are with us and we can share places to see.

  4. Thank you Theresa. It was so pretty there. I suppose one could find the place a bit of a tourist photo op but when we started reading up on the place and the history it contained we saw it from another perspective. To think it was a persons dream and with the help of others it became a reality and source of service for the community. It is so nice having you along with us and your thoughtful words are always so uplifting. You are a lady with so many gifts.

  5. G O R G E O U S ! ! ! I really had a sense of peacefulness as I watched the video. The long shot made me surprised at how many intriguing views you found up close to the mill equipment. Perfect time of year for it, with the trees leafed out. Thank you!

  6. Thanks Madelyn for your always warm words of encouragement. Yes, to look at the design of the mill and study its architecture was interesting. When we touched the wood we realized we were feeling something that was a persons dream brought to fruition.

  7. As always, I loved the beautifully composed photos and the well-edited video. My favorites are always the ones where you let me hear the soothing sounds of the water.

I agree with Gabe – there is something comforting about all that weathered wood. Amazing to think about the work that went into building these old mills – much of it by hand. Thank you so much for sharing your journey.

  9. Thank you for saying these kind words. Yes the adventure was such a joy for us. The scenery, people and everything in between once again opened our eyes to the importance of stepping outside of ourselves and our immediate surroundings. So nice having you with us.

  10. We know what you mean about the weight factor. On our journeys we tote along a Canon 5D Mark III, Canon 70D, I-phone, galaxy S5, tripods, and then there’s the H4n and Sony recorders. It all comes together though as we travel down the trails with our Chocolate Lab leading the way.

  11. Yes, it´s a good camera for almost everything. Except from being a bit heavy to carry around. Therefore I bought also a small compact camera. But until now I haven´t used it that much.

  13. Thank you so much for saying these kind words. We try hard to select photos that seem to enhance or accent the place we are at and to create a video that pulls it all together. It is wonderful having you along with us and share each others journeys.
