Hello everyone and welcome to part 18 of “Rochester, NY – Our Back Yard” in our continuing exploration around our home town.
Today is special because …
we are going back in time to a post we did March 20, 2017 on our visit to Letchworth State Park titled “Rochester, NY – Our Back-Yard part 11” . Shortly after that story one of our treasured followers, Gabe Burkhardt of “(Almost) Unsalvageable” sent us an email asking if it was okay for him to complete a digital painting of one of the scenes we captured on camera. Without hesitation, our response was “we would be honored” and the next thing we knew there it was.

For those of you that haven’t been to his web site yet please make time to stop on over and check out the incredible accomplishments this young man has achieved. Each time we receive notification of his post we immediately grab something to drink and settle in knowing we are going to experience every emotion humanly possible. We can’t list any one post as our favorite because we would be listing every one of them.
Gabe, we truly have been touched by meeting you in this huge world of bloggers and that you made time to complete a digital painting of one of our photographs. We truly look forward to that day we meet you in person. Until that time comes though we will be following along with you in exciting anticipation of your next adventure.

Yes he is a delightful person also. We haven’t heard from him in a long while but keep him in our prayers. He is from Romania we think.

LOL. It had us rolling because I’m readying to do my annual Appalachian Trail hike and bears are always a thing to be aware of.

We respect them as wild animals even though its nice to think there is a little Winnie the Pooh in each one of them, lol.

I will have to read that one as well. Yes on our recent camping trip I had to explain to my son that bears are dangerous, not quite like the story book “Brown Bear.” Thank you for linking the post. 🙂

We’re so happy you visited Gabe’s site. We laughed so hard when we read his story of “make the most of your bear encounters”. This is what is great about you Gabe… you are so humble and that is such a great trait. You suggest its easy enough for anyone but we’re not so sure about that. You have a great gift and we sure do feel honored to have one of our photos done by you. Thank you so much.

Really glad you enjoyed the sketch. I use my iPad Pro as the canvas (using a painting app called ProCreate) and an Apple Pencil as my brush. I’m not as talented as I’d like to be so I usually use the photo to help me capture the important pieces.
The important thing is, its easy enough that anyone with plenty of patience can create their own digital sketches as well.

We’re not quite sure how Gabe does this art style. We have seen many of his works on his site and enjoy each one. This is a question we need to ask him, lol. Gabe, how do you do this?

You are so right. There is nothing like being there and seeing it in person. The camera (maybe the operator) just can’t seem to capture the true image. I guess its like golf after that perfect chip onto the green…. you keep going back hoping to do it again.
