Lancaster PA Road Trip – 14 of 14

Welcome back everyone to our Lancaster PA road trip part 14 and picking up where we left off last.

What a road trip this has been exploring Lancaster, PA.  but now it was time to head home.  We were only gone 9 days but awesome days they were.  Our plans and then some were fulfilled supporting the theory that plans can maximize one’s spontaneous moments.  Our ride home was relaxing and the route differed in that this time we followed the roadway on the opposite side of the Susquehanna River.  The towns were equally as diverse in makeup as were the ones on the way down including economic hardships that all communities, big and small are being struck with.

As we traveled it was funny how food cravings began to strike both of us for Mexican food.  Why Mexican we’ll never know but now we were on a mission.  Maybe some of you can relate to how once you get a craving nothing else can replace or satisfy it no matter how much you try to sell yourself on an alternative.  With each community, we passed we scanned our smartphones for something that remotely sounded Mexican.  Wouldn’t you know it in little Plymouth, Pennsylvania good ole Google showed Nova Pizza  as having a Mexican menu. Our first thoughts were, yeah right, an Italian pizzeria is going to have authentic Mexican food.  Well, I am pleased to say whatever algorithm Google used it was right on.  This was some of the best Mexican food we have ever eaten.  Everything was fresh and the portions beyond average.  So, if you are ever in that area of PA please make sure you stop and say hello to Omar and tell em we recommended you.

  12. It is great to see the passion in Crosscountrylifeblog and the venture he and you are all on. It is always so eye opening to step outside our zip codes to see the world. We have always traveled but it was from point A to point B without taking the time to really look and see. The dividends of this journey will be immense and most likely life changing. This is great you will be traveling through PA and NY. We are excited following along!!!! Thank you for your encouraging words of our travels.

  13. Yes, Crosscountrylifeblog is my son. He is 12 years old and he was so excited about your blog. We just had time yesterday to sit down and look at it together. I love your blog, and am excited to look through it more. We will be in PA and NY in August and want to go to Amish country. Your pics are beautiful! Thank you for sharing your adventure… you are inspiring to us:)

  32. Thank you so much Madelyn for the great comments. Unfortunately that site I use for Audreyhornphoto.com does not allow or provide for comments. I so enjoyed developing those stills and working with the inner city community and RIT. Community gardens are such a neat community program and we’re, RIT and I are putting together some different projects for the city of Rochester.

  33. Just went through ‘A Single Mom.’ How about letting us comment under your blog posts, Audrey — or at maybe linking somewhere else that accepts comments and likes ??? (that doesn’t make us jump thru joining hoops, if possible).

    My two favs from the series were the hurt finger (I could almost hear the crying!) and the start of the day prayer – so touching. And, I had to laugh if that adorable itty-bitty dog fostered the “BEWARE OF” sign on the front porch!

  39. Nope, its not just you. When that craving takes hold you gotta satisfy it, lol. We so enjoy seeing this great USA and learning from those living their lives and making a difference. We believe we captured some great moments during our NC road trip and look forward to sharing them.

  41. FINALLY took the time to “check out Audrey Horn Photo.” No way to comment there (tho’ I did add a few hearts to the blog connected, and left a quickie on Vimeo under “These things I don’t think about”) – so I’m leaving my comment here.

    You are one TALENTED lady – and I love that you are using your talents to promote change. I admire your guts to take on a new “second act” career doing something you’ve always loved – even going back to school to make sure you stayed focused (no pun intended). 🙂

    The portraits were especially compelling – I felt I got a great sense of each of them. Good job!

    The line-up of porta-potties in your montage of “things” was the photo that hit me the hardest. We certainly do NOT think about how blessed we are simply to be able to wake up and walk only a few steps to a private bathroom – where we can also wash our hands.

  42. I have been trying to get over here ALL day, and keep getting distracted. And NOW, when it’s too late to make it to the particular restaurant that serves it before the kitchen closes, you’ve got me craving their portobello mushroom nacho salad. (no pizza there, however) 🙂

    Have you ever noticed that when you’re craving something you can’t get you tend to eat four times as much of some other things in an attempt to quell the craving? 😦 Or is it just me?

    Hate that the Pa. road trip has ended, but I’m really looking forward to reading about the NC adventure and seeing all the great pictures of THAT trip. What fun lives you lead. Thanks so much for sharing them here.

  60. It is so much fun seeing His blessings isn’t it. So glad we are together on our journeys. We just got back from our North Carolina adventure and will soon be sharing it in photos, video and words. Lots of obvious showing of His hands.

    – And, don't make this the last post! Tell us what happened when you got home, or how Emma enjoyed the adventure or not … maybe contrast what you thought it would be like before you went with what actually happened? Would love to hear an epilogue on this adventure! 🙂

  68. We should have included the pictures but we were so busy eating it. The crust was great and full of toppings and the Mexican food was too die for. We rolled out of there and didn’t need to eat for many miles.
